It is unanimously accknowledged in the Megna Carta-1215, Human Rights declaration-1948, Convention on International Civil and Political Rights-1996, Bangladesh Constitutional Proposals and in the holly books of all the religions that the common right of people is to get ‘protection in law’ and ‘access to justice’. Every one is entitled in full equality to a fair and public hearing by an independent and impertial tribunal, in the determination of his rights and obligations and of any criminal charge against him. It is cited in the proposal of para no. 19(1) of Bangladesh Constituion that the Government must ensure its Citizen’s equial rights of opportunities.
The most of the people of Bangladesh are poor. Poverty is the basic problem in Bangladesh. Most of its people lives under proverty level. They are deprived from the constitutional rights of ‘protection in law’ and ‘access to justice’.
These people are not well aware of their rights and obligations. Some Government and non-governmental organizations are working towards eradication of poverty and building up of awareness to make its people concious about constitutional rights and obligations. But that are not enough to reduce poverty at a acceptable rate and make people concious about their rights and obligations.
